With these images I want to take a closer look at what love is about. Every individual has their own melody of love. I want to evoke a feeling of a past memory, a longing and give a glimpse of other love stories or loving memories. Is love not the most important thing in this earthly world? Pure energy, devotion, infatuation, lust, passion, tenderness and yearning.

I am asking where do you come from and where are you going to? Cities reflect the people who live there and reflect peoples`culture and vice versa. Architectural styles, political situations, landscape colours, historical past and cultural souls – all seem to influence a city`s atmosphere. Doesn`t it?

GIVE ME A SMILE

about the longing for a smile

The main focus of this series is on portraits of the New Russia.

To this series I was inspired by the photographic work „little adults“ of Anna Skladmann, which is about children of the russian upper class. Anna Skaldmann`s work fascinated me so much that I asked for her permission to interprete their unusual characteristics and charismatic faces.

The priviledged children of today`s Russia` are growing up in a manner, as it has been common in leading families 200 years ago, on a stage named the world.
Their expression shows a lot of seriousness and distance, mixed with childlike curiosity and the longing for a smile. My work is questioning, how these children are mirrowing this glamorous world and the effect on the contemplator.

Cuba

The Cuban cycle is the result of me taking pictures in Havanna in 2010, where I spent a very special time. All the faces and places I saw and visited made an impact on me and have influenced my work here.
